SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
Committee on Water Resources Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences within its scientific scope includes scientific disciplines, which form the basis for water resources management. These are: hydrology, hydraulics of surface and ground waters, hydraulic and hydro-engineering structures, ecology of water and water related ecosystems, water quality.
Basic aims of the Committee:
• Initiation of discussions on actual and essential issues in the field of water resources management and hydraulic engineering,
• Support of scientific and engineering development of young engineers and scientists, as well as managers in the sphere of water management,
• Support of the changes in the system of engineering education for water resources management compatible with contemporary European water policy,
• Organization of exchange of information about most modern achievements and actual state in water resources management and hydro-engineering,
• Elaboration of expertise and opinions for State Authorities concerning above mentioned issues,
• Integration of multi-disciplinary groups around problems of water resources and hydro-engineering.
These aims are achieved by the following means:
• Organization of scientific meetings of the Committee and meetings with other Committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences concerning similar water problems,
• Organization of the activity of Committee Sections, which represent special water issues,
• Organization of national and international scientific schools (hydrology, hydraulics, water resources management and protection)
• Publication of special proceedings concerning issues in which Committee is involved
